Nobody does it better than Salena Zito. This week, the ‘it’ that I’m referring to is exposing who the Loony Left is. As with all of her reporting, Ms. Zito relied on a suitable foil. (My word, not Ms. Zito’s.) This week’s villain is Pennsylvania Democrat Brian Sims.
Sims is the jackass that harassed women in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Philadelphia. He’s also a Pennsylvania Democrat representing part of Philadelphia.
This is how big of a jerk Sims is:
That’s behavior far beyond what a jerk does. That’s what I’d expect from a militant activist. Frankly, I’d throw him in a woodchipper if it was legal. Here’s what Ms. Zito wrote:
When Brian Sims first ran for state representative in 2012, he ran as a new pro-business voice. He was going to be a bridge-builder, brimming with commonsense ideas on pocketbook issues. Sims never met that promise.
That’s understatement. It gets worse:
Last week, Sims decided to film his own harassment of a woman outside an abortion clinic here in Philadelphia, calling her an “old white lady” and her beliefs “grotesque” to her face and to the camera. The clear plan was to incite his audience against this peaceful protester, whom he saw as clearly bigoted and evil.
The whole act opened the window for Twitter observers into a dark, dark place in American culture, a gaping divide none of us quite know how to navigate. And while Sims’ harassment was, on the one hand, shocking, it was expected. A politician abusing his power thusly to crush religious conservatives is exactly what so many of us have been bracing for.
This was no outburst in the heat of a debate. He wasn’t reacting to a stressful situation. It also wasn’t a talk show appearance that went sour, nor was it a barroom brawl. He wasn’t caught off guard at his home or his office or a campaign event.
To put it succinctly, Sims ripped his own ‘moderate’ mask off. He pretended to be a moderate while he was actually a bitter radical. This should be a lesson for naïve Republicans.
It’d be nice to think that we can get along with these types of Democrats. That isn’t a luxury we can afford at this time. Republicans should realize that the left has gotten radicalized. (Think Antifa, Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street.) Then think Bernie Sanders and AOC.
This was an emboldened, out-of-touch, arrogant elected official who woke up one day last week and made a conscious decision to go to Planned Parenthood for the express purpose of fighting and badgering.
And he chose a woman, standing by herself. And he didn’t start a dialogue. He didn’t introduce himself. He badgered her. Repeatedly. Relentlessly. Angrily. He badgered an enemy he himself described as an old lady.
If ever there was a time to just utterly defeat Democrats, it’s right now. These radicals aren’t just wrong on the issues, they’re evil. Further, let’s realize that there aren’t that many moderate Democrats. I frequently tell my friends that the definition of the moderate Democrat is a Democrat running for office in a swing district. The moderation disappears an hour after they win election.
UPDATE: Watch the entire video. Sims claims that he’s seen the “insults, the attacks, the slurs and the racism that those protesters aim at mostly young girls.” Why didn’t he videotape that? Why didn’t he post that to Youtube? I’m betting that he didn’t because it doesn’t exist.
Perhaps the more accurate title of this post should be ‘When will Leftists protest these civil rights’? FIRE’s Susan Kruth’s article on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’s revised regulations outlines changes to Obama administration’s anti-due process regulations.
Let’s be clear. The Obama administration’s Education Department was anti-civil rights. When it came to dealing with alleged sexual assault on campus, the Obama administration’s Education Department “encouraged schools to have a single investigator adjudicate sexual misconduct cases through a series of separate meetings with the parties and witnesses.” By contrast, the DeVos-proposed regulations pertaining to alleged sexual assault “requires that schools ‘must provide for a live hearing’ when adjudicating a case.”
In other words, universities must allow a cross-examination of the accuser. Nameless, faceless accusers won’t have their ‘day in court’. Kruth continues with this:
Having a live hearing ensures that all parties can see exactly the same evidence and testimony that the fact-finder is seeing, so that he or she can rebut that evidence and testimony as fully as he or she is able.
The department’s new rules go on to require a typical and critically important feature of live hearings: cross-examination of all witnesses, including the parties. The Supreme Court has called cross-examination the “greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of truth,” and it can be especially paramount in cases that hinge on witness testimony, as the Sixth Circuit emphasized just two months ago.
How an administration that swore an oath to uphold the Constitution can deprive people of this basic civil right is startling. Further, it’s time to admit that leftist Democrats are now fascists and/or anarchists. IF you think I’m kidding, check out Eric Swalwell’s proposal:
In a USA Today op-ed entitled “Ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resisters,” Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., argued Thursday that prior proposals to ban assault weapons “would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come.”
Look at the mental gymnastics Rep. Swalwell employs to justify this confiscation:
You’re probably wondering what gun confiscation has to do with due process rights. That’s a fair question. They’re both part of the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. The right to keep and bear arms is a sacred right. I prefer referring to it as the right to protect myself and my family. It’s a natural right. The Supreme Court has called the right to due process and to confront your accuser the “greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of truth.”
It isn’t supposition to say that Democrats have opposed the right to protect yourself and your family from burglars and criminals as vigorously as they’ve opposed the right of people to cross-examine their accusers. What other constitutional rights do Democrats want to sacrifice on the altar of political correctness?
This article reminds me that hard-core leftists don’t hesitate in using intimidation and harassment to threaten conservatives.
During the campaign, leftist anarchists attacked 2 legislative candidates in Minnesota. I titled my post The party of hate. I’d hoped that this threatening behavior was confined to Minnesota, though I didn’t hold my breath on that considering how violent Antifa, Black Lives Matter and other Democrat-associated hate groups are.
This weekend, Fox News personality Kat Timpf was threatened by other Democrat-associated haters:
Fox News personality Kat Timpf revealed that she was felt so threatened by a woman angry at her for working at the cable news outlet that she left a restaurant to prevent an altercation from ensuing.
From there, things escalated:
But later, another women accosted Timpf when she found out she worked at Fox News. “This girl started going nuts on me, screaming at me to get out of the bar. I found her very threatening,” Timpf said.
She indicated that she tried to move to another part of the bar, but the woman followed her and continued screaming at her. Timpf said that the woman appeared intoxicated, and was surrounded by friends who laughed at her harassment. She said she was afraid the incident would escalate, so she left the bar. “It was super uncomfortable and I didn’t want things to get physical,” Timpf said.
The blame for this incident can be laid right at the feet of incoming Democrat Chairwoman Maxine Brown. Remember this?
It’s time to tell Democrats that Maxine Waters is unfit to be a member of Congress. People are getting intimidated by the Democrats’ anarchists. The Democrats’ anarchists need to be stopped ASAP before someone gets Scalised again.
The Democratic Party of Skip Jackson, JFK and Daniel Patrick Moynihan doesn’t exist anymore. The people that call themselves Democrats today have earned a new title — the Party of Hate.
It’s impossible for me to forget how hate-filled Sen. Hirono was during the Kavanaugh hearings. It’s impossible to forget how Sen. Hirono, (D-HI), said that then-Judge Kavanaugh was guilty until proven innocent. Compared with what’s happened this week, Sen. Hirono’s actions are mild.
This week, 2 Minnesota Republicans were attacked. As frightening as those things are, they’re probably mild compared to what happened when Clintonista David Brock unleashed Wilfred Michael Stark, who “was arrested by the Las Vegas City Marshals on Tuesday evening and remains in custody in the Las Vegas city jail” after attacking Kristin Davison.
Though this isn’t a manifestation of violence, this interview shows how warped and disgusting the former Democratic Party has fallen:
How uncontroversial is it to say that you “stand for the flag and kneel at the Cross”? That’s utterly uncontroversial yet Mr. Salvas was fired as the leader of the Allegheny County Democratic Party. Salvas confirmed that he was called a racist for that statement.
These aren’t normal people. The anarchists that attacked Sarah Anderson and the Soros-paid attack dog that attacked Kristin Davison aren’t exceptions anymore. They’re the rule for the new ‘Party of Hate’. Does anyone seriously think that a country run by these disgusting people will produce prosperity and peace? I can’t picture that.
Finally, notice that all of the attackers are Democrats. This isn’t a situation where both parties are guilty. The former Democratic Party is the guilty party. Period.
Insisting that these attacks are just the beginning, Antifa is apparently taking Eric Holder’s threats seriously. Let’s remember Holder’s retraction where he said “Ok, stop the fake outrage. I’m obviously not advocating violence. (In fact, when I was AG violent crime in the US was historically low.) I’m saying Republicans are undermining our democracy and Democrats need to be tough, proud and stand up for the values we believe in - the end.”
This is where the Holder backtrack started:
Antifa let their intentions be known when they wrote this threat:
Our attack is merely a beginning. We are not passive, we are not civil, and we will not apologize.
Antifa won’t apologize but they’re willing to threaten others:
The vandals leave a note.
It’s time to start taking these thugs seriously. It’s apparent that the Democratic Party is getting overrun with thugs.
After Jessie van Berkel’s article, Doug Wardlow is going on the offensive in his campaign against Keith Ellison. Wardlow’s campaign is going on the offensive with this ad:
Here’s a partial transcript of Wardlow’s ad:
NARRATOR: Extreme Keith Ellison voted against the Farm Bill and supports radical environmental policies that hurt Minnesota farmers and workers. Extreme Keith Ellison supported cop-killers, open borders and has said he’s against the Second Amendment. Even worse, Extreme Keith Ellison has been accused of domestic violence by multiple women.
Think about this — Keith Ellison wants to be Minnesota’s chief law enforcement officer but he disagrees with the Bill of Rights and he thinks that he can beat up women without getting punished. What type of idiot liberal thinks that makes sense?
Let me rephrase that. What idiot liberal other than the ones serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee thinks that ignoring the Constitution and beating up women is ok? In Karen Monahan’s case, she provided proof of Ellison’s assault. She didn’t wait 30+ years to make the accusation. She immediately reported it to the proper authorities. Medical personnel have verified her injuries.
Keith Ellison is devoid of character plus he thinks he’s above the law. Why would we elect that type of dirtbag? Instead, let’s elect Doug Wardlow. With him, we know he won’t support cop-killers or beat up women.
It’s time to stop pretending that Antifa is the only bunch of violent actors in the DFL or the Democratic Party. I’m not disputing that Antifa and anarchist organizations affiliated with the Democratic Party don’t pose a threat to conservative politicians. I’m simply arguing that violent behavior on the left isn’t confined to anarchists and Antifa. This LTE highlights the left’s violent (and frightening) behavior:
To the editor:
Has the radical socialist left become unhinged? The latest incidents include reprehensible threats of harm against the children of Republican officeholders. Our own U.S. Rep. Jason Lewis has received threats of violence against his daughters. The threats of harm to his daughters necessitated a call to the Capitol Police.
Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-New York, also received threats of violence against his daughters. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Florida, was threatened by a man who said he would kill Mast’s children. Fortunately, police were able to arrest the man.
Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, “suggested” to her followers they verbally attack members of the White House staff and other conservatives — even when they are in a restaurant enjoying a meal!
Locally, Republican state Rep. Drew Christensen has had a campaign sign set afire and others slashed. I point out again that all these threats are made against Republicans. My resolve has thus been strengthened and I will proudly support Jason Lewis and Drew Christensen.
The latest smear against Jason Lewis for comments he made on his radio show decades ago is appalling. He was hired to be provocative and had the right of freedom of speech, the same right that liberals attempt to take away from anyone who doesn’t agree with them.
That’s before talking about the lunatic Bernie supporter who shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise last summer in Virginia. That’s before talking about the ‘comedian’ who accused Sarah Huckabee-Sanders of being a traitor of women.
People that violent aren’t capable of making rational decisions. Putting them back in power would be a terrible mistake. Giving in to the left’s violence will only embolden them. BTW, this isn’t the first time violent lefties have threatened Rep. Lewis’s family. Check this out:
This isn’t the Democratic Party of Paul Wellstone. In fact, I’m betting that most of these lefties don’t even know that Wellstone often was a guest on Lewis’s show, where they frequently debated issues. Sen. Wellstone loved discussing issues. These violent Democrat thugs aren’t interested in discussing issues. These Democrat thugs are mostly interested in shutting down debate while stirring up violence. It’s time for people of all political stripes to criticize this growing faction of Democrat thugs.
This article highlights the depths of depravity that Democrats have sunk to. Remember Michelle Obama saying “When they go low, we go high”? What BS. The truth is that Democrats frequently go as low as it gets. This article is proof of it.
It opens by saying “Republican Rep. Jason Lewis told Fox News he has contacted the police over threats to him and even his daughters in the wake of reports about controversial statements he made as a radio show host. ‘It was serious enough for my office to alert the Capitol Police,’ Lewis told Fox News. The Minnesota congressman said his daughters were threatened in sick messages received by his office. It marks the latest in a wave of threats against not just Republican lawmakers themselves but their families.”
Last August, I wrote this post to highlight the fact that TakeAction Minnesota, a far left/anarchist organization, sent protesters to Lewis’ house last August. While they were there, TakeAction Minnesota took the time to intimidate some of Lewis’ neighbors.
In other words, I wouldn’t rule out TakeAction Minnesota as being involved in threatening Lewis’ daughters. I won’t say positively that TakeAction Minnesota is behind these threats. I just won’t rule it out. They’re that depraved. Just watch this video of TAM at Lewis’ home:
I’ll just be straightforward on this. This is proof that TAM is totally depraved. They should be investigated to within an inch of their existence. There’s no question that TAM isn’t afraid to use intimidation/anarchist tactics. They simply aren’t.
This isn’t the Party of Wellstone and Humphrey. The DFL has become the home for lunatics, mean-spirited anarchists and socialists.
Lots of conservatives appreciate the job that AG Jeff Sessions has done thus far. Thanks to this op-ed on the threats to free speech in the United States, people have another reason to appreciate Gen. Sessions.
One of the most impactful parts of Gen. Sessions’ op-ed came when he wrote “Our legal heritage, upon which the Founders crafted the Bill of Rights, taught that reason and knowledge produced the closest approximation to truth, and from truth may arise justice. But reason requires discourse and, frequently, argument. And that is why the free speech guarantee is found not just in the First Amendment, but also permeates our institutions, traditions and our Constitution. The Federalists against the anti-Federalists, Abraham Lincoln against Stephen Douglas, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. against George Wallace. At so many times in our history as a people, it was speech, and still more speech, that led Americans to a more just, more perfect union.”
Gen. Sessions then wrote “This month, we marked the 230th anniversary of our Constitution. This month, we also marked the 54th anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham. Four little girls died that day as they changed into their choir robes because the Klan wanted to silence the voices fighting for civil rights. But their voices were not silenced. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. would call them ‘the martyred heroines of a holy crusade for freedom and human dignity,’ in a eulogy that still should speak to us today. This is the true legacy of free speech that has been handed down to us. It was bought with a price.”
Antifa, the SPLC, By Any Means Necessary and other hard left organizations are trying to silence people. The best way of combatting this modern-day fascism is to insist on more liberty of all kinds. When you hear about warriors like Hannah Scherlacher and others on college campuses, support them to the fullest extent possible. In situations like this, pushing back is an indispensable tool.
This video shows the lengths to which they’ll go to silence people:
I’d strongly recommend you read this article, too. These aren’t people who play by the rules. They’re fascists, which is defined as “a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.”
It’s clear that Antifa and By Any Means Necessary will use any tools at their disposal.
When I wrote this post, I hadn’t heard of Hannah Scherlacher. When I finish writing this post, Sen. Franken will wish he’d never heard of Hannah. In my post, I wrote about Sen. Franken’s reliance on ratings from the Southern Poverty Law Center, aka the SPLC, during Amy Coney-Barrett’s confirmation hearing. To hear Sen. Franken tell it, SPLC is a neutral arbiter of who is qualified to be a federal judge. The truth is that SPLC is a bunch of bottom-feeding low-lifes who have stockpiled tons of cash in accounts in the Caribbean.
Sen. Franken, what part of that sounds legitimate? But I digress.
Hannah’s op-ed questions SPLC’s integrity from a personal standpoint. In her op-ed, Hannah wrote “It’s an understatement to say that I was dumbfounded as to how I ended up on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) LGBTQ hate-list — I have never said or done anything to indicate hate for the LGBTQ community. When I called to inquire, SPLC informed me that I am guilty because I did a radio interview with Family Research Council Radio (FRC). I am a program coordinator for The Leadership Institute’s Campus Reform. org. The segment was about socialism, but because FRC holds traditional family values, I was labeled an LGBT-hater just for being a guest on the show. No LGBT topics even came-up.”
Sen. Franken, have you no shame?
What US senator would rely on sloppily-gathered information from a bunch of bottom-feeders like the SPLC? Ms. Scherlacher’s sin was to do an interview with the Family Research Council, an organization whose mission statement states that their “mission is to advance faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview” and whose vision “is a culture in which all human life is valued, families flourish, and religious liberty thrives.”
The FRC’s vision and mission earned it a spot on SPLC’s hate map. That’s significant because that map has helped cause physical pain:
Reckless and irresponsible hate-labeling not only stifles free speech and expression, it empowers and emboldens vicious groups and individuals to violently attack people. Consider the 2012 Family Research Council shooting, when a man walked into the organization’s office in Washington, D.C., with 100 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches. He planned to kill as many staff members as possible and smear the sandwiches in their faces. He said he chose his target based on SPLC’s Hate Map.
This is more than ironic:
Nowhere is the danger more real than on our college campuses where Antifa, By Any Means Necessary, and other domestic terror groups (which are not found on any SPLC hate list) now feel emboldened to attack conservative students and shut down events under the guise of, ironically, fighting fascism, hate and white supremacism.
Some of the organizations found on the SPLC’s Hate Map are legitimate hate groups. It’s indisputable that the KKK, Holocaust deniers and the Skinheads deserve to be on that map. Being a traditional values Christian shouldn’t land a person on SPLC’s hate map, though.
I’ll close this post with Hannah’s closing argument:
Groups like the SPLC threaten our constitutional rights and the very fabric that makes this nation great. We need to start pushing back. If this trend of bullying and ostracizing anyone with a different opinion continues, we can only expect a chilling, mob-rule effect and the suppression of speech and ideas in this country.
I am calling on SPLC to remove me from this list and stop engaging in the game of identity fear politics. I urge all Americans who have been bullied, silenced, and pushed into a corner by radical groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center to push back too.
Amen, Hannah.
