I’m normally a fan of HotAir’s Allahpundit. This isn’t one of those times. After reading this post, I can’t help but object to some of AP’s statements.

For instance, I must object when AP says “Here’s my question for Kushner, though: What would he have had Rod Rosenstein and Bob Mueller do? Granted, the Russiagate probe was bitterly divisive and contributed to Trump’s delegitimization among his critics. But given all the contacts between Trump officials and Russians during the campaign, given Trump’s weird apologetics for Putin and Wikileaks, given the fact that his campaign did benefit to some negligible degree from Russian interference, how could the DOJ not look into it?”

The answer is simple. The DOJ shouldn’t have named a special counsel since it hadn’t identified a crime that was committed. So what if Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats whine all day long? Who cares if Adam Schiff and other Democrats lie about having seen evidence of Trump-Russia collusion? I don’t care if these Democrats stomped their feet and held their breath until they were blue in the face.

The special counsel law is pretty precise. If Shepard Smith wants to throw a hissy fit, that’s his problem. When his contract expires, here’s hoping he isn’t rehired and that they replace him with Trace Gallagher or Ed Henry. They’d be miles ahead if they did that. Listen to Smith’s temper tantrum:

Why is anyone surprised that Putin tried contacting both campaigns or that Putin tried interfering in our election? That’s as surprising as finding out that Bill Gates is rich.

Here’s a question for lefty Smith: why isn’t he interested in the Clinton campaign’s using Russian sources for the infamous discredited dossier? It isn’t news that both parties compile an opposition research file. What is news is that the Clinton campaign, then the FBI, relied on the dossier to trash a man with unverified information. Why isn’t Shepard Smith upset about that? Why aren’t other Democrats upset, too?

It’s time for that no-talent hack (Smith) to get fired.

Tuesday night, after President Trump said that Republicans would become the party of health care, leftist pundits laughed. What’s funnier is the thought that Democrats will negotiate in good faith on health care. Health care is the Democrats’ holy grail. Without that, Democrats wouldn’t exist.

It’s important that Republicans put a serious health care plan together. What’s more important, though, is that they highlight the differences between their philosophy and the Democrats’ philosophy. Let’s recall that the ACA shoved a specific policy down our throats. If people didn’t purchase QHPs (Qualified Health Plans), they had to pay a fine, aka the individual mandate. The only difference, let’s remember, between Bronze Plan policies and Gold Plan policies was the price of the premium and the size of the deductible.

With the ACA, picking out policies that fit the individuals’ or families’ needs was forbidden. That fits with the Democrats’ philosophy of shoving unpopular policies down our throats, then using the force of government to tell families what they must do.

Republicans are capitalists. They rely on selling quality products at a reasonable price. There’s no need for individual mandates because (surprise) people actually want to buy the product. Imagine how perplexed Democrats must be when they see people buying a product because they like it. After all, Democrats have long believed that they knew best.

This philosophy isn’t limited to health care, either. It’s certainly in play with fixing our immigration system. Democrats consistently insist that there isn’t a crisis. That’s foolish:

I’d love hearing Sen. Schumer explain how letting 1,000,000+ illegal aliens into our country isn’t a crisis. This isn’t just a problem in Texas and California. It’s a crisis in every state in the union because the children of those illegal aliens go to schools. That raises property taxes for people here legally. How is that fair?

Further, let’s ask another sticky question, namely why Democrats won’t pass legislation that will actually stop illegal aliens from entering the United States? You can’t honestly say that you’re for border security if you sit idly by and watch 1,000,000 illegal aliens enter our country in 2019.

It’s time to start calling Democrats like Speaker Pelosi, Sen. Schumer and Rep. Swalwell liars. After all, that’s what they are. A minute into this interview, Rep. Swalwell insisted that he and the country “had seen evidence” of President Trump colluding with Russia. Then he said that “Mueller said that he can’t prove collusion beyond a reasonable doubt.”

That’s a bald-faced lie. Mueller said he “found no evidence” of collusion or collaboration between Russia and President Trump or anyone in his campaign. There’s a huge difference between not being able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt and finding no evidence of collusion.

It’s time for Republicans to tell Americans that Democrats aren’t interested in working in America’s best interests. That’s what the resistance movement is about. Democrats are only interested in passing legislation when Republicans give them everything they want. That isn’t patriotism. That’s the opposite of patriotism. The only way to move America forward is to defeat Democrats in droves in the House and Senate and keep President Trump in the White House.

Electing more Democrats only moves America back to the failed policies of the Democrats and President Obama.

Crisis: a dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in a person’s life.

Saying that Democrats have too many drama queens is understatement. This afternoon, Judith Miller employed the Democrats’ favorite phrase while talking about President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency when she said this created a “constitutional crisis.” Judith Miller is a Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist so she should know the definition of the word crisis.

Honestly, Ms. Miller should know that a crisis only happens when there’s a life-or history-changing event. Even if the Supreme Court rules against President Trump’s declaration, it’s difficult to picture how their ruling changes the course of history.

My definition of a constitutional crisis is when the Supreme Court makes a ruling but the president refuses to obey the ruling. Pushing the envelope over a policy difference isn’t a constitutional crisis. That’s what I’d define as a constitutional question.

Democrats love throwing the constitutional crisis term around because it makes President Trump sound like a certifiable villain. When President Trump is re-elected, the American people will send the verdict that they’re tired of the Democrats’ drama queen antics.

During the partial government shutdown, we were told that the economy was getting hurt. It’s possible that might still be the case but this morning’s jobs report didn’t provide proof of that:

Job growth in January shattered expectations, with nonfarm payrolls surging by 304,000 despite a partial government shutdown that was the longest in history, the Labor Department reported Friday.

The unemployment rate ticked higher to 4 percent, a level where it had last been in June, a likely effect of the shutdown, according to the department. However, officials said federal workers generally were counted as employed during the period because they received pay during the survey week of Jan. 12. On balance, federal government employment actually rose by 1,000. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected payrolls to rise by 170,000 and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 3.9 percent.

Simply put, the doom and gloom that was forecast by Democrats didn’t materialize. Instead, Larry Kudlow’s prediction that the economy would remain strong proved true.

This is why politicians shouldn’t talk about the economy:

Our economy suffered an $11 billion loss in the shutdown.

Individual costs are harder to see. Who knows how many fed workers missed a doctor’s appointment, fell behind on payments.

Now Sen. Schumer will be able to dine on a major helping of crow at next Tuesday’s SOTU Address. Earlier this week, Sen. Schumer told President Trump to stay out of the negotiations and leave the governing to the Senate. After this jobs report, which blew away the expectations by 140,000 jobs (304,000 actual vs. 165,000 forecast), Sen. Schumer should stick to what he does best — whining while wearing bad-fitting glasses.

Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi issued this statement:

The January jobs report holds some encouraging news, but it belies the lasting financial damage that the Trump Shutdown has inflicted on hundreds of thousands of Americans across the nation. Federal workers, many of them veterans, saw their financial security shaken, their credit ratings harmed, and their lives upended by the longest shutdown in history. And now, with families still hurting, President Trump refuses to take a second senseless shutdown off the table.

Meanwhile, House Republicans overwhelmingly voted against a pay raise for federal civilian workers, refusing to respect the perseverance and patriotism of the men and women who were just furloughed or forced to work without pay. This consistently callous GOP attitude disrespects workers, dishonors our values and damages our economy.

House Democrats are working For The People, moving forward with our bold agenda to lower health costs, raise workers’ wages, and restore integrity to government. We must keep government open, and keep working to deliver an economy that works for every American, not just the wealthy and well-connected few.

What financial damage? I don’t see it. Next, getting told that Democrats “are working For The People” is a little like being told that arsonists are assisting firefighters. There just isn’t a ring of truth to it. Finally, saying that the “GOP attitude” is damaging the economy is BS. The economy isn’t damaged.

After reading this article, the obvious question is whether Nancy Pelosi will accept this offer or if she’ll simple ignore these women. I’m betting that she’ll ignore them, even if they appear in the First Lady’s box during the SOTU Address.

A group of women whose husbands work as Border Patrol officers are inviting Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to come to McAllen, Texas, to see what’s taking place at the U.S.-Mexico border. “We would like to show you around!” Jill Demanski wrote in a Facebook post to Pelosi last Thursday, which marked the 34th day of the government shutdown. “You don’t need to bring any security detail. Our husbands/boyfriends/fiancés/wives/significant others are actually very good at their jobs, thank goodness! And since you see no threat here, I’m sure you can just make a quick flight down here alone.”

During the shutdown, I wrote President Trump with the suggestion that he include some of the Angel families in the FLOTUS box, as well as border patrol agents. I also suggested that President Trump blister Ms. Pelosi in the opening of his speech. With her sitting right behind him, its a golden opportunity to highlight the fact that she flew to Hawaii for Christmas while President Trump cancelled his Christmas plans. If he thinks that’s too harsh, he can dial it back a notch or 2.

Democrats might want to consider this:

The government shutdown is over — for now — but the political ramifications are still being sorted out. The media has been chortling that Donald Trump “caved,” and he may well have lost this battle with congressional Democrats. Their “victory,” such as it is, is to notify American voters that they are so opposed to a wall and a secure border that they were willing to keep the government shut down for four weeks to ensure it doesn’t happen.

Trump has thus exposed the Pelosi-Schumer Democrats as being hopelessly soft on illegal immigration. Some Democrats are starting to wonder whether they have dug their own political grave for 2020. This is why in recent days congressional Democrats are screaming from the rafters that they are for border security — just not the way Trump wants to do it.

The reality is far from this spin. At the start of the shutdown, the Pelosi crowd was saying that “there is no border crisis” and that “a wall is immoral.” But actions speak louder than words, and every response to illegal immigration over the past decade proves they don’t want it stopped. Democrats have instead openly encouraged illegal immigration.

There’s only one vote that matters on this or any other issue. That vote belongs to Nancy Pelosi. Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, don’t matter. That’s why I agree with President Trump that a deal won’t get reached. Pelosi is too dug in to let President Trump get credit for an important victory.

If we needed additional proof that Democrats hate President Trump, Democrats supplied that proof today. Trump said “I am here today to break the logjam and provide congress with a pathway forward to end the government shutdown.” It didn’t take long for Democrats to reject President Trump’s plan:

But the approach had already been rejected by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats who said it largely repackaged a proposal that had failed earlier. Pelosi called the idea a “non-starter,” and Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) also panned the proposal as a way to reopen the government, even though Trump’s plan cribbed from Durbin’s own legislation.

Simply put, Democrats hate President Trump more than they like this country. Democrats don’t care if our nation is overrun with illegal aliens. Democrats don’t care if our border is secure. What Democrats want most of all is to politically demolish President Trump.

Obviously, the plan is to make Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and freshman House Democrats look unreasonable. That isn’t difficult since Democrats are totally unreasonable. Say goodbye to that Speaker’s gavel, Nancy. Many of those freshmen that were elected in 2018 won’t be returning thanks to your intransigence. Now that we know that Ms. Pelosi isn’t returning to the negotiating table, it’s time to go nuclear. The thing Republicans need to understand is that Democrats aren’t interested in bipartisanship. They’re interested in demolishing President Trump’s presidency. Period.

The Agenda Media won’t report on this fairly either. They’re part of the open borders crowd. They don’t care about protecting Americans. That’s why it’s impossible to pressure Democrats. It’d be different if we had an honest press. We don’t. (Think Buzzfeed.) President Trump should drop the hammer the minute that Senate Democrats filibuster President Trump’s offer:

Here’s what I’d write if I was President Trump’s chief speechwriter:

Democrats in the House and Senate have left me no alternatives. While more caravans head toward the border, Democrats and their allies in the Agenda Media insist that this is a “manufactured crisis.” How dare they say that. I dare them to tell that to the Angel families that I’ve met, the Angel families that tried meeting with Speaker Pelosi but were told she wasn’t there.

Democrats insist that they’re for border security. That’s a lie. If they’re for true border security, they wouldn’t have voted to filibuster the bill just presented for Senate consideration. They wouldn’t have issued a letter saying that it was dead on arrival in the House.

In both instances, Democrats said that they’d only allow a vote if the government opened first. When I asked Speaker Pelosi if she’d fund the wall if I re-opened the government, she said “No.” I’ve been willing to negotiate throughout. Unfortunately, Democrats have rejected my offers to even meet. I can’t negotiate with myself.

Therefore, I’m left with just one option. Today, I’m invoking the Emergencies Act to protect the United States from mass illegal immigration, drug trafficking and human trafficking. While Democrats insist that I’m manufacturing this crisis, people from California to Texas to Staten Island have felt the pain of these criminals. If that doesn’t constitute a national emergency, nothing does.

My highest priority as president is to protect human lives. Because Democrats won’t join with me in protecting American lives, I’m taking action to protect those lives.

Let’s be blunt about something. The Democrats’ image crisis just got worse this weekend. It started with Sen. Schumer and Speaker Pelosi thought that it was a good idea to offer a rebuttal to President Trump’s Oval Office speech on why the nation needs a border barrier. If asked how I’d phrase how they looked that night, I’m betting that that first thing that’d pop into my mind would be that Chuck and Nancy looked ‘almost lifelike’.

The next day, President Trump invited the House and Senate leadership to the White House. Democrats insisted that President Trump re-open government immediately. President Trump asked whether Speaker Pelosi would fund his wall if he re-opened the government. She emphatically said she wouldn’t, at which point President Trump said that the Democrats were wasting his time before leaving the Situation Room.

The Democrats were winning the fight until Chuck and Nancy turned themselves into a skit for SNL. Then they insisted that they wouldn’t negotiate in good faith. At this point, public polling still shows them winning this fight. It won’t show that a month from now. That’s because 30 Democrats decided to accept lobbyists’ invitation to fly down to Puerto Rico.

I’m sure they worked hard while down there, though this picture suggests otherwise:

President Trump and his conservative allies are slamming some Democrats for traveling to Puerto Rico over the weekend as the longest government shutdown in U.S. history continues to drag on.

“I’ve been here all weekend. A lot of democrats were in Puerto Rico celebrating something,” the president told reporters Monday morning before heading to New Orleans to attend the American Farm Bureau Federation’s annual convention. “I don’t know, maybe they’re celebrating the shutdown.”

A contingent of more than 30 Democratic lawmakers, the largest delegation to visit Puerto Rico, traveled to the island to discuss post-Hurricane Maria recovery efforts, unpopular austerity measures and federal investment to the territory with local officials. The delegation is also there to participate in fundraising events hosted by Bold PAC, a political committee that serves as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ fundraising arm. Presidential hopeful and former Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary Julián Castro also traveled to the island after launching his White House bid in San Antonio Saturday.

While President Trump waits in the White House to negotiate in good faith, Democrats insist on not taking this nation’s security seriously. He’s made Democrats an offer. He’s even offered Democrats several immigration items that they’ve recently called for.

At some point in the not-so-distant future, Democrats will be seen as unreasonable. That’s when they polling will flip.

This afternoon, I got an email from the ultra-lefty organization Unidos. As left as the Democrats are drifting, Unidos is further left. In the email, they wrote “Today, we published an op-ed in the Washington Post that urges Congress to include a solution for DACA and TPS recipients when negotiating an end to the shutdown. Right now, the legal status of millions are in jeopardy after Trump decided to end both programs.”

They then continue, saying “For the good of our community and our country, we need a bipartisan compromise that will reopen the government, but also protect DREAMers and TPS holders. While Trump and his allies may have double-downed on the shutdown this week, the strategy isn’t sustainable. Millions of Americans have already been hurt by it, and it’s possible that every American will be affected before it ends. All this to promote a fabricated border crisis and a monument to bigotry.”

Let’s get serious a moment. The Schumer Shutdown was all about Sen. Schumer rejecting a compromise of funding for the wall in exchange for protection for DACA recipients. Then there’s this:

Trump and his allies need to recognize the reality that the government needs to reopen ASAP, that a wasteful, unnecessary and unpopular wall will never happen, and that they need to begin serious negotiations with the House of Representatives. Contact your representatives (202-224-3121) and tell them it’s time to end the shutdown. As much as we need a reality check about the border, we must also not miss this moment to finally protect our DREAMers and TPS communities once and for all.

Give me a break. First, the border crisis isn’t fake. It’s altogether too real for the Singh family and the families of other angel families. Next, calling the wall “a monument to bigotry” is intellectually dishonest. If someone told that to me face-to-face, I’d berate them verbally. President Trump is right. This is just common sense. Democrats should be ashamed of themselves. Not protecting Americans is the personification of being un-American. Period.

The Democrats are fighting a losing fight because they’re fighting for re-opening the government while President Trump fights for keeping people safe. That’s a fight any politician will win 99% of the time. People understand that walls work in providing security. Meanwhile, people that aren’t employed by the government generally don’t care if the government isn’t open because they don’t use government on a daily basis.

People definitely care whether the government protects them, though. That’s an expectation people have of their government. If the USDA or the EPA isn’t open, people will get over it because they don’t use those departments that often. While people don’t use ICE or the CBP each day, people rely on them to keep them safe each day.

As long as Democrats fight to re-open government and President Trump keeps fighting for beefing up the CBP or ICE, President Trump will win that fight each time. It gets more lopsided when Democrats trot out Ma & Pa Kettle to rebut President Trump’s fact-filled message:

Democrats dug this hole. Let’s see how much damage they do to themselves before this shutdown ends.

In 2008, El Tinklenberg almost defeated Michele Bachmann told Chris Matthews that there were Democrats in Congress that held un-American views. Michele was pilloried by the Twin Cities media for saying what conservatives knew at the time. Today, there’s no disputing the fact that Democrats don’t put America first. It’s clear that Democrats put their warped ideology first.

In their latest ‘negotiating’ session, President Trump walked out when Speaker Pelosi insisted that President Trump re-open the government. The meeting ended when President Trump asked Pelosi if she’d fund his wall if he re-opened government. She replied that she wouldn’t. News reports later said that Pelosi refused to negotiate, which is accurate.

Pence led a three-person White House team seeking to negotiate with Democratic leaders over the weekend, but he told reporters that Schumer and Pelosi have been unwilling to budge. “We incorporated Democrat ideas and language in our proposal and made an offer to resolve this impasse and address the crisis at our southern border. And today, in this brief meeting, we heard once again that Democratic leaders are unwilling to even negotiate,” Pence said.

In good-faith negotiations, each side gives a little. Neither side gets everything that they want. Pelosi thinks that she doesn’t have to budge an inch. Pelosi thinks that she can just play my-way-or-the-highway hardball.

Think of what Vice President Pence just said. He said that Republicans crafted legislation that “incorporated Democrat ideas and language in our proposal and made an offer to resolve this impasse.” The Democrats have stayed stuck on no. So much for Democrats negotiating in good faith.

That’s proof positive that Democrats put political victories ahead of doing what’s right for the nation. That’s the definition of being un-American.
