In 2016, the Republican candidates on those debate stages were top-tier presidential candidates, with a couple exceptions. The Democrats’ presidential candidates this year are lackluster at best. Creepy Joe Biden? Seriously? Crazy Bernie Sanders? Someone should buy him a calculator. He needs one really badly. Amy Klobuchar? That mental midget is a pleasant-sounding airhead. Corey Booker is a nobody who thinks he’s a somebody. Soon, Bill de Blasio will join the field. His greatest accomplishment is having NYPD police officers turn their back on him.

Former MNGOP gubernatorial candidate Marty Seifert used to say of the Republicans’ gubernatorial candidates that we “have an embarrassment of riches. The DFL just have embarrassments.” Eerily, that opinion fits this year’s Democrat presidential candidates perfect.

David Avella, the GOPAC chairman and a GOP strategist, wrote this op-ed over the weekend. Here’s the headline-grabbing part of the op-ed:

What a front-runner cannot endure is a rapid evaporation of his or her support. This is what is in store for Joe Biden. He will be out of the race by the time the South Carolina primary votes are counted.

While that’s sure to get everyone’s attention, the rest of Avella’s op-ed is what’s newsworthy:

Let us start with the fact that top Internet and social media search topics are “Creepy Joe” and “Joe Biden age.” This is not launching a campaign from a position of strength. Despite his best efforts to inoculate himself from political mistakes, Joe Biden is simply the wrong guy in the wrong year.

It’s one thing when a candidate gets off to a slow start because he’s still putting the staffing puzzle together. That isn’t why Biden stumbled. He stumbled because he’s running a campaign that Walter Mondale would’ve used against Ronald Reagan. He’s decades behind Obama and light years behind Trump in terms of campaigning.

If Republicans work hard this election cycle, they’ll retake the House, add seats in the Senate and re-elect President Trump. The best explanation for that is wrapped up in this slogan:

Vote Republican. They aren’t perfect but the other side is insane.

Indeed Democrats are insane.

Before he jumped into the race, Joe Biden’s Democrat presidential challengers brought up his history of his inappropriate (and creepy) touching of women of all ages. As quickly as it started, though, it died down. That’s unfortunate. Joe Biden is a creepy old white man.

As sad as Biden’s creepy touchy habits are, that isn’t his worst character defect. This article highlights Joe Biden’s worst character defect.

Never willing to let a good race-baiting opportunity go to was, “former Vice President Joe Biden rang the alarm that ‘Jim Crow is sneaking back’ at a campaign rally in South Carolina, the south’s first primary state that is seen as key to clinching the Democratic nomination.” This isn’t surprising, just disgusting and repetitive. Joe Biden has been doing this for years. Here’s another instance of Biden playing the race-baiting card:

Simply put, Biden is both a race-baiter and a pervert. It’s time that sensible Democrats rejected this type of campaigning. That’s if sensible Democrats still exist. Then there’s this:

On systemic racism, Biden gave the example that if two men named “Jamal” and “John” applied for the same job, “John” would easily get the gig.

I’m tired of hearing this crap. That sounds like something another old white Democrat (Mark Dayton) said.

Biden held a campaign rally Saturday in Columbia, the Palmetto State’s capital and home to the University of South Carolina. Bidden added to his usual fighting-for-the-middle-class stump speech by calling for protecting voting rights and ending “systemic racism.” Biden cited numerous states’ voting laws which he said are “mostly directed at people of color.”

Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams tried playing that race card, too. They almost won. Neither race should’ve been close. Apparently, Democrats can’t help themselves when it comes to race-baiting:

It’s sickening to see Democrats pandering to Al Sharpton, aka Tawana Brawley’s co-conspirator. While it’s sickening, it isn’t surprising.

Salena Zito’s column does a great job highlighting the advantages that Joe Biden has in winning the Democrats’ nomination, then the general election. Personally, I don’t think that Biden’s got any chance in the general election but that’s just my opinion.

Ms. Zito starts by writing “Joe Biden joined the 2020 race for president last week by declaring that the next election will be ‘a battle for the soul of this nation.’ But his decision to make a Western Pennsylvania Teamster hall his first campaign stop on Tuesday shows he truly understands the heart of it.”

I don’t doubt that Biden identifies with western Pennsylvania. It’s just that I think he starts with an albatross around his neck. The name of that particular albatross is President Obama. During their 8 years in office together, the Obama-Biden team tried to demolish the coal industry, the manufacturing industry and the steel industry.

In his announcement video, Biden said that “I believe that history will look back on 4 years of this president and all that he embraces as an aberrant moment in time. But if we give Donald Trump 8 years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation.”

That’s odd considering the fact that the president he served said “We are 5 days away from fundamentally transforming America.”

Sleepy Joe, along with his other Democrat presidential aspirants, sat idly by while President Obama tried destroying steel mill towns, the coal-mining industry and the manufacturing industry. That isn’t the only disturbing thing Obama said. This statement is something else that will live in infamy:

They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

He was talking specifically about Pennsylvania. Why hasn’t Vice President Biden stepped forward and criticized President Obama for essentially saying that voters in rural Pennsylvania, Ohio and other midwestern states were racists? This might be Biden’s biggest mistake of the campaign.

I don’t doubt that Democrats will let him off the hook for not criticizing President Obama but I’m betting blue-collar Trump voters who felt forgotten under President Obama don’t feel forgotten with President Trump. A major part of President Trump’s accomplishments have benefitted these voters. What reason would they have for leaving the guy whose policies have helped restore their towns and their industries?

I don’t disagree that Biden has some strengths that will help him. It’s just that I think he’s got a ton of liabilities that will hurt him as much as his strengths will help him.

Watching former VP Biden’s presidential launch has been painful, even for a conservative like me. Josh Marshall’s latest post at TPM is titled “The Perfect Candidate Who’s Totally Ill-Suited to the Times.” That’s worded about as perfectly as it gets.

Democrat moderates keep saying that VP Biden is the only Democrat candidate who can win back blue collar workers that Democrats lost in 2016. It’s my opinion that they’re talking about the Democrat I call ‘Theoretical Joe.’ Theoretical Joe was born in Scranton, PA, and supposedly loves blue collar workers. Democrats won’t retake the White House without re-establishing their support from blue collar workers. That’s why moderate Democrats support Theoretical Joe.

The guy who showed up this morning on The View, however, couldn’t fill a diner, much less an arena. I call this morning’s Biden ‘Real Joe’ because, unfortunately for Democrats, is the real Joe Biden. This is a disaster:

He looks totally unequipped to answer a question he had to know was coming. I’m old enough to remember President Reagan’s great line in his debate with Walter Mondale. In their first presidential debate, President Reagan looked tired and off his game. The press said he looked old. Then came the second debate. This is what happens when you’re prepared:

It’s worth noting that the journalist at the end said “I’d like to leave early before it heads over the fence.” In other words, the journalist thought that President Reagan had hit a homerun with that answer.

Joe Biden knew that question was coming. His handlers should’ve had him prepared for it. Instead, he stuttered and stammered his way through the answer. He looked befuddled when there was no reason for him to be.

Real Joe Biden isn’t capable of winning anything, starting with the nomination. I think he’ll have difficulty winning more than a handful of Democrat primaries.

During the 2016 general election campaign, Democrats criticized then-Candidate Trump for not saying he’d accept the results of the election. Immediately after she lost, Hillary Clinton started doing everything possible to undermine President Trump’s election. Of course, we now know that she had lots of help from deep state actors like Andrew McCabe, Jim Comey, Jim Clapper, John Brennan, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok.

It’s worth noting that Brennan accused President Trump of committing treason multiple times. Right after President Trump’s summit with Russia President Vladimir Putin, Brennan tweeted that “President Trump’s performance…rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ It was nothing short of treasonous.”

President Trump’s behavior wasn’t treasonous just like Hillary’s giving Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov the now-infamous reset button wasn’t treasonous. For the former director of the CIA to make such a statement is anti-patriotic.

Now that the Mueller report turned into a dud, Democrats want to relitigate that faux investigation, too. It’s increasingly apparent that Democrats have turned into what I call Relitigation Nation. If they don’t get the results they want, Democrats throw a hissy fit and insist that Republicans must be covering something up. This time, they’ve turned to a new version of smear campaigning under the guise of oversight hearings.

I’ve started talking about a new campaign, which I’ve titled ‘No More Euphemisms’. The Democrats’ thinly disguised oversight hearings are nothing of the sort. They’re the start of the Far-Far Left’s impeachment proceedings. Democrats have insisted on relitigating the conclusions of the Mueller report. The evidence doesn’t support obstruction of justice charges. There was no evidence that “any American” conspired with or collaborated with the Russian government.

Remember when Michelle infamously said that “for the first time in my life, I’m proud of America and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change”?

It’s impossible to escape the fact that Democrats are the sorest losers in politics. If they don’t get their way, they whine to high heaven. That isn’t what leaders do. That’s what sore losers do.

Finally, I won’t put up with Biden’s claim that re-electing President Trump will end America as it should be. The Obama-Biden administration tried to fundamentally transform the United States. No thanks! I prefer the president to enforce the laws of our nation consistently. I prefer an administration that doesn’t selectively ignore the laws it doesn’t like.

For years, when Joe Biden inappropriately touched, hugged or kissed women, Democrats, aka the #MeToo Party, told the rest of the US that that was “just Joe being Joe.” Now that he’s considering a presidential run, coupled with the untimely onset of the #MeToo movement, it’s time to come clean about “Joe being Joe.”

The inescapable truth is that Vice President Biden is that he’s more than a little creepy. This isn’t “Joe being Joe.” This is Joe being a disgusting old man. I’d be surprised if the male readers of LFR wouldn’t flatten him with a single punch if he did to their wife or girlfriend what he’s apparently done to lots of women in DC.

(CNN)Joe Biden is facing the first crisis of his yet-to-be-official, front-running 2020 Democratic presidential campaign. An allegation by Nevada Democratic politician Lucy Flores that he once made her feel “uneasy” by smelling her hair and kissing the back of her head forced the former vice president’s team into damage control mode over the weekend.

Democrats made a bad situation worse by letting Biden get away without saying anything. This guy’s a pervert. Period. I wouldn’t trust him around women if my life depended on it. Here’s why:

At least he isn’t a groper like Al Franken.

If I had to give this article a title, I’d give the title ‘You can’t beat something with nothing’. Another title I’d consider is ‘Republicans win while Democrats whine’. Katie Packer Beeson’s article is spot on.

It starts by saying “The Democrats seem to enjoy gloating about the hot mess that is the Republican Party these days. Former GOP presidents warning the president about the people he surrounds himself with; sitting Republican U.S. senators calling the president unstable and unqualified; and a former GOP speaker of the house saying “there is no Republican Party. The president isn’t a Republican.” And Democrats’ friends in the mainstream media have kindly created an echo chamber that makes them think that they are always right and the Republicans are a bunch of sexist, racist, whack jobs. So why aren’t they winning?”

It continued, saying “So when they lost the election, there was a reckoning. The leadership of the Democratic Party was drummed up and new, forward-looking leaders took the reins and offered an alternative to what they saw as the disaster of Donald Trump. Wait, no. That isn’t what happened. Instead, they re-elected Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house. They elected Chuck Schumer as Senate majority [editor’s note: Schumer is minority leader] leader and completely sold out to the New York and California wings of the Democratic Party.”

Then there’s this:

Instead of talking about middle-class tax cuts, they talked about transgender bathroom access. Instead of talking about fixing Obamacare, which was crushing many in the middle class with high premiums and complicated doctor selections, they walked right into the trap of the alt-right and began tearing down Civil War statues.

Democrats still haven’t figured out how to talk to blue collar America. They’re experts at talking to college professors and progressive activists but they’re worthless at talking with factory workers, small businesses and tradesmen. It’s like those people are from another planet. (Perhaps, it’s the Democrats that are from a different planet?)

Look how paralyzed Hillary looks when confronted by a coal miner:

Hillary looked positively petrified. She looked like she would’ve rather been anywhere else in the world than at that roundtable.

What [Democrats] don’t seem to understand is that you can point out your opponent’s weaknesses all day long, but if you don’t provide an alternative, then people will stick with the status quo. I’ve spoken to dozens of Republican women in recent months who have grown disillusioned with the Republican Party, and when I ask why they don’t defect, the answer is always the same: “It’s no better over there.”

Until Democrats learn what animates blue collar workers, they should expect to lose lots of races, at least enough to keep them in the minority for a decade or more.

This article highlights just how popular Donald Trump is with blue collar workers. It also highlights the fact that Democrats don’t own the Iron Range like they once did. A decade ago, it wouldn’t have been imaginable to see a paragraph that said “The vice presidents wanted working class voters to know they still have a home in their party. The fight for the 8th District — home to the mining region known as the Iron Range — is a story about evolving political topography and economic frustration, just as much as it is a tale of two well-known personalities dueling for the second time in as many years.”

Earlier in the article, it said “Former Vice President Walter Mondale, who addressed the standing-room-only crowd at the Nolan Annual Fish Fry in Brainerd last Thursday, and incumbent Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who spoke in Duluth the next day, had a bigger message than just saving their friend’s seat.”

Vice President Biden and Vice President Mondale aren’t telling the truth. Today’s Democratic Party hates working class voters. Ask yourself this: when was the last time a Democrat fought against environmental activists? When was the last time this administration sided with the pipefitters, not the environmental activists? Think Keystone XL Pipeline and you’ll have your answer. If you need something more recent, think Dakota Access Pipeline or the Sandpiper Pipeline before it. The Democratic Party used to love working class people. It doesn’t anymore.

Stewart Mills has reason to hope, especially after this:

Removing his Carhartt jacket and sitting down for coffee, Mills had reason to feel good. He’d seen a photo of the Biden rally from earlier in the day showing a relatively sparse crowd. And he’d just heard on the radio that the FBI was investigating Clinton’s emails again.

We’ll find out a week from today what all this means in terms of who wins. At this point, though, there’s no question that there’s lots of momentum on the Trump-Mills side. This 30-second spot will help strengthen and sustain that momentum:

I wish I could say that I’m surprised with President Obama’s Labor Day diatribe but I’d be lying if I said that. If people haven’t noticed by now, 2 of President Obama’s dominant character traits are his love of NBA-style trash-talking and his inability to resist bragging up his pathetic economic policies. Simply put, he’s a legend in his own mind. He’s also a confirmed liar.

Part of the freshest proof that he’s a confirmed liar is when he said “The fact is the verdict is in: Middle-class economics works.” Mr. President, that isn’t a fact. That’s an opinion. Actually, it’s an opinion that’s shared only within the farthest left part of the Democratic Party. Vice President Biden doesn’t  even believe that. Mr. President, if “middle class economics” is working, why did Vice President Biden say that “the U.S. economy” was “devastating for workers”? Mr. President, if “middle-class economics” work, why are the U.S. economic policies you’ve put in place producing the most anemic ‘sustained’ economic growth since the Great Depression?

This part of President Obama’s speech is exceptionally ironic:

“Unfortunately, there are some folks in Washington and some folks who are trying to get to Washington who don’t want to face these facts … in their world, the only way to help the country grow and help the country get ahead is to cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires.”

“And then you just wait,” he said, “you look up at the sky and prosperity will come raining down on us from whatever high rise is in your city. But that’s not how the economy works. These folks are pretty stubborn. I will give them credit. They don’t let facts or evidence get in the way.”

Mr. President, why do you insist that your opponents “don’t let facts or evidence get in the way” of their economic arguments when it’s you that has ignored anemic GDP statistics and things like the Workforce Participation Rate, which is at its lowest rate in 38 years? If “middle-class economics” works, why are 94,000,000 people who normally would be in the workforce not looking for work?

The truth is that President Obama’s policies are failed policies. It’s time to stop this disaster. It’s time to implement pro-growth economic policies. It’s time to roll back 90% of the Obama administration’s job-killing regulations.

President Obama still hasn’t admitted that you can’t be for a strong middle class and anti-job creators.

Campaigning with Rick Nolan in the Eighth District, the gaffemeister made another appearance:

It was appropriate that Vice President Joe Biden spoke at an Iron Range community college during a campaign rally for 8th District U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan Thursday afternoon. The vice president’s speech was professorial at times, citing data from several studies that he said proved the rich are getting richer at the expense of the country’s middle class, which he said “is getting crushed.”

Vice President Biden’s speech is an unintentional indictment of the President Obama’s administration. The policies in place affect job creation, wage growth and other important economic realities. By saying that the nation’s middle class “is getting crushed”, Biden was indicting President Obama’s policies, starting with Obamacare.

President Obama can’t claim to be the man that saved the economy one minute, then say that someone else’s policies are crushing the middle class the next minute. Either his policies work or they don’t. Though he and Vice President Biden won’t admit it, they’ve gotten the policies they’ve pushed for. Their policies are the ones in place that are hurting middle class families. The Obama-Biden policies haven’t worked. Their policies have prevented the Keystone XL Pipeline from getting built.

Thanks to that Obama-Biden policy, Minnesota farmers can’t get their crops to market and Minnesota miners can’t get their ore to port before Lake Superior freezes over.

Vice President Biden is the gift that keeps giving. It’s one thing when Biden does something like this:

Everyone chuckled when they saw that video. It’s a boneheaded mistake made by a bonehead. It’s another Bidenism.

Saying that the middle class is “getting crushed”, however, is different. That isn’t a boneheaded mistake. It’s a truth that Iron Rangers know altogether too well. The percentage of Minnesotans living below the poverty line is 11.2%. In St. Louis County, though, that percentage shoots up to 16.1%. By comparison, 8% of people living in Sherburne County live below the poverty line. St. Louis County, which has the biggest number of votes in Nolan’s district, has 50% more people living under the poverty line than the statewide average. The percentage of people living below the poverty line in Sherburne County is half that of St. Louis County.

The truth be told, there isn’t much of a middle class in Hibbing, where Thursday’s rally was held. Income disparity is the rule, not the exception. Thanks to Vice President Biden, Rick Nolan is faced with the challenge of running against a top tier opponent while defending the Obama administration’s economic policies.
