Amanda Marcotteâs article didnât pull any punches. It explained to Blue Collar America exactly how Democrats feel about them. Ms. Marcotte started her article by saying “On Wednesday, a crowd of right-wing nuts, complete with their oversized but underworked utility vehicles, Confederate flags, guns and other such overcompensation accoutrements, descended on the State Capitol in Lansing, Michigan, to whine about the temporary pause to dinners at Applebeeâs and accidental brushfires at gender-reveal parties. The deep fear of emasculation driving the protest was not particularly subtle at this protest, as the crowd chanted ‘Lock her upâ at Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat who is accused of no other crime other than making deeply insecure men fuss about a woman in power.”
I wonât call Ms. Marcotte a member of Fake News. Iâll just call her a sloppy journalist who isnât that interested in the truth. Did Ms. Marcotte check this article about how Michiganders of both genders want to throw Gov. Whitmer out of office via a recall election? According to this website, almost 300,000 people have signed the petition. From the article:
Whitmerâs critics said the new measures go too far. “Several recent measures provide marginal benefits at best, while substantially heightening frustration and resentment,” said Rep. Justin Amash, an independent. Sensible instructions to practice social distancing, wear masks, and stay at home already do most of the work to reduce the virusâs spread. By pushing too far, the governor undermines her own authority and increases the likelihood people will not follow reasonable guidelines.”
The arbitrary nature of Gov. Whitmerâs EO is whatâs gotten under Michigandersâ skin the most. Michiganders understand that theyâre at risk if they donât religiously practice social distancing and other items on the CDCâs list. Itâs things like being able to go shopping but not being able to buy seeds for their gardens or the part about how out-of-state property owners can visit their cabins but Michiganders canât visit their Michigan cabins.
Ms. Marcotte apparently hasnât figured it out that governing is best done by exercising restraint and good judgment. The fact that Gov. Whitmer is a female is utterly irrelevant to the vast majority of protesters. This is just sloppy BS journalism:
The ostensible purpose of the protests was to pressure Whitmer to relax some of the restrictions on businesses and movement under the coronavirus lockdown. In reality, of course, this is happening because a bunch of Fox News-loving Trump supporters have been poisoned by propaganda that has convinced them the coronavirus is overblown or a hoax, all being spread by the libs to destroy Trumpâs chances at re-election.
What is Ms. Marcotteâs proof for any of her accusations? Iâm betting that she doesnât have any. Itâs like the people who told Karlyn Borysenko, the former Democrat who attended President Trumpâs rally in Manchester, NH, the night before the Primary. Hereâs what Professor Borysenko wrote about her liberal friends:
That turned out not to be the case. The more voices outside the left that I listened to, the more I realized that these were not bad people. They were not racists, Nazis, or white supremacists. We had differences of opinions on social and economic issues, but a difference of opinion does not make your opponent inherently evil. And they could justify their opinions using arguments, rather than the shouting and ranting I saw coming from my side of the aisle.
Ms. Marcotte sounds like Professor Borysenkoâs paranoid friends. Ms. Marcotte also is either dishonest or the sloppiest journalist Iâve read in ages. Itâs possible sheâs both. I know that Ms. Marcotte is full of it when she says that the protesters think that COVID-19 is “overblown or a hoax.” That attack was discredited a month ago. Ms. Marcotte should be ashamed for pumping out such BS. The purpose of the protests was to tell Gov. Whitmer to pull her head out of her arse before issuing executive orders.
Why can Michiganders buy produce but they canât buy the seeds to grow their own vegetables? Why can Wisconsinites visit their cabin in Michiganâs UP but a Detroit lifelong resident canât visit their cabin in the UP? Ms. Marcotte is long on put-downs and short on compassion.
Ms. Marcotte should attempt to listen to people more and shoot her mouth off less. She wouldnât look like a Pelosi-style partisan if she listened more often.
One of the most underreported movements is the #Walkaway Campaign. According to my Google search, there are just 2,620 articles on the subject. The first article listed in the news search was this article from the Daily Caller. The title of the article is “OPINION: A Big Civility Gap Between The Left And Everyone Else, Say WalkAway Democrats.”
The opinion piece starts by saying “The ‘WalkAwayâ campaign, started by Brandon Straka, is about exiting the Democratic Party. We studied the videos on the movementâs official YouTube channel, including 150 people who walked away. A large majority report a civility gap between the left and the non-left. Fully 70 percent suggested that the left is less civil than Republicans and others.”
There are lots of Establishment Republicans who donât deserve our loyalty. Still, itâs clear that Democrats wonât tolerate people they slightly disagree with. With the hardline progressives, the slightest ‘infractionâ is enough to reject a person. That isnât what made America exceptional. Whatâs made this nation exceptional is the ability and willingness to make a deal thatâs a combination of mild disappointment and extreme satisfaction. This video mustâve struck a nerve:
The #WalkawayCampaign published this video on Jul 14, 2018. It already has almost 850,000 views. Itâs attracted over 22,000 comments. Itâs been approved or liked over 74,000 times while attracting less than 1,000 disapprovals in a year. Any political video that has a 75:1 approve-to-disapprove ratio in the comments section is astonishing.
The point Iâm making is that the #WalkawayCampaign isnât attracting much attention from the MSM. It should be. This isnât insignificant. The opening page of the #Walkaway website tells what theyâre doing:
The #WalkAway Campaign is a true grassroots movement, founded by former liberal, Brandon Straka on May 26th, 2018. The #WalkAway Campaign encourages and supports those on the Left to walk away from the divisive tenets endorsed and mandated by the Democratic Party of today. We are walking away from the lies, the false narratives, the fake news, the race-baiting, the victim narrative, the violence, the vandalism, the vitriol. We are walking away from a party driven by hate. We are walking toward patriotism and a new, unified America! We are the future of this great nation!
Rest assured that these patriots arenât just abandoning the hate-mongering Democrats. Theyâre running towards the new patriotism and a new, unified nation. Itâs apparent, too, that the #WalkawayCampaign intends on influencing the 2020 election.
Itâs difficult to measure a freshly minted grassrootsâ movementâs impact prior to the next election. This one, however, seems distinct from past grassroots organizations. This time, itâs apparent that Democrats have played the division card thousands of times too many. Itâs like the Democratsâ chief strategy is to divide, divide some more and divide the nation even more.
That isnât the America that the Founding Fathers envisioned. That isnât the “Shining City on a Hill” that President Reagan envisioned, either:
Todayâs Democratic Party doesnât seem capable of envisioning President Reaganâs Shining City on a Hill. Todayâs Democratic Party seems only capable of division, propaganda and encouraging illegal immigration.
When Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi or other Democrats talk about Americaâs principles, theyâre talking trash. Based on what weâre seeing in the #WalkawayCampaign and in the Trump movement, Biden and Pelosi couldnât identify Americaâs principles if their lives depended on it.
