This video of Tom Ricks’ interview with FNC’s Jon Scott shows off his infantile logic:

This statement is outrageous:

I think Benghazi was hyped, especially by this network. Now that the campaign is over, [Sen. McCain’s] backing away from his previous statements.

When Scott asked how it’s possible to hype the killing of 4 American patriots, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Ricks asked if Scott knew how many security contractors were killed in Iraq.

That type of infantile logic is typical of progressive thinking. First, Chris Crocker, the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq during the Bush administration, didn’t request additional troops to protect the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. Similarly, he didn’t request additional troops for any of the U.S. consulates in Iraq.

Next, these security contractors know that they’re being hired to be the front line of defense against terrorists and militias. While there’s no question ambassadors in some nations have a dangerous job, they aren’t expected to be the front line of defense against RPG-armed, well-trained terrorists and militias.

Another key distinction that’s worth noting is that the Bush administration didn’t attempt to hide the fact that security contractors had a dangerous job. They didn’t manufacture stories about a non-existent mob got out of control, then killed a U.S. ambassador. They didn’t send out someone who didn’t know what had happened and wasn’t accountable for what happened to explain what happened.

Furthermore, during the second presidential debate, President Obama said that he’d called the terrorist attack on Benghazi a terrorist attack from the outset, then went to the UN and repeatedly apologized for a video that nobody had seen.

President Obama’s clear intent was to hide the fact that his administration’s inaction led directly to the deaths of 4 American patriots. If Mr. Ricks is suggesting that the needless killing of 4 American patriots isn’t a big thing, then I’d love debating him about that.

Finally, no progressive diatribe would be complete without them accusing FNC of being a campaign instrument of the GOP. Here’s the obligatory FNC is the GOP’s lacky statement:

I think the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox is operating as the wing of Republican Party.

It’s apparent that Mr. Ricks is an operative for the progressive movement. He doesn’t think for himself. His logic is infantile. He’s willing to overlook the possibility that this administration is willing to say anything to hide their incompetence. He’s willing to say things that hide the fact that this administration’s decisions led directly to the unnecessary deaths of true American patriots.

That’s the responsibility of progressive spinmeisters.

What’s this “true American Patriots?” Until it is clear whether or not CIA detentions/torture was happening, hold off on the “patriot” language.

I was not there, I have an open mind, I await facts, and I believe in FOX as much as I believe in the Easter Bunny. Ruppert runs nothing short of a pure propaganda mill.

He’d have a better show if he just had Ollie North and Sarah Palin arm wrestle.

Eric, if you’d like peddling the notion that Christopher Stevens & 2 Navy SEALS aren’t American patriots, I’d just ask you sell that at the local VFW or American Legion hall.

I’d suggest that you wear a flack jacket if you attempt to peddle that tripe.

FACT: There were military assets less than an hour away in Italy.
FACT: The State Department was talking with Christopher Stevens during the early part of the attack. We know this because Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge got the emails verifying that & because State Department official Charlene Lamb testified to that during a House committee hearing. (Feel free to argue that Ms. Lamb perjured herself in her testimony if you’re that certain.)
FACT: Christopher Stevens, Ty Woods, Glen Doherty & Sean Smith really died needlessly that day in Benghazi.
FACT: Documents uncovered by CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkison show Christopher Stevens’ repeated requests for more security in Benghazi.
FACT: Documents discovered by Fox News Correspondent Catherine Herridge show that a special meeting was called in the State Department on the specific subject of the deteriorating security situation in Benghazi.

QUESTION: Isn’t that a lot of facts discovered by “a pure propaganda mill?”

Finally, your hatred of Fox & anything remotely related to conservatism have prevented you from maintaining an open mind.

    Strib wrote it up.

Ricks said FOX was acting as a wing of the Republican Party; and FOX killed the interview.

    The truth hurts I suppose.

So, what would Romney have done differently? FOX is silent about that. Curious.

Finally, the election result proves people have more faith in Obama than in FOX. Wisdom of the masses.

  • Gary Gross says:

Personally, I’d rather that FNC humiliate Ricks but I’m ok with them flushing his trash down the drain. He clearly wasn’t interested in having an intelligent discussion about the killing of 4 American patriots.

Ricks’ goal was to be a mouthpiece for the anti-war left fringe. He, like you, is stupid enough to think that President Obama is worth defending, even when his decisions are indefensible.

As for your question about what Gov. Romney would’ve done, I won’t address it because it’s a distraction. What’s relevant is that President Obama & Hillary Clinton knew about the deteriorating security situation in Benghazi, they knew about Christopher Stevens’ pleas for additional security.

Despite that information, they ignored Christopher Stevens’ pleas for additional security, which is why he & 3 other American patriots died needlessly.

Their blood is on President Obama’s & Hillary Clinton’s hands. That’s the disgusting reality. That’s why they should be run out of DC.

That’s why they’ll be recorded in history as the worst president & secretary of state in the modern era.

  • Hey Eric….hot tip for ya….MITT ROMNEY ISN’T PRESIDENT!!!! Your guy is and HE is the one that needs to held accountable….

  • Your asking what Romney would have done differently is about as stupid and unserious as it would have been if Bush supporters would have asked his critics what John KERRY or Al GORE would have done differently…..

Quit trying to shift the responsibility. The buck stops with Obama – not Romney.
